Connecting Through Music

DESCRIPTION

The benefit concert, organized by 16-year-old Avik Sarkar, will feature music from the Middle East, highlighting the cultures of the countries from which the refugees have come. It will include classical music by Middle Eastern composers, as well as traditional music from that area.  The concert will also premiere Avik’s original string quartet, which features voices of Boston-area refugees

By presenting the music of these countries in a concert setting, the audience will gain awareness about the rich heritage of these peoples. By hearing this beautiful music, the audience will be able to relate to refugees and experience their cultures in a deeper manner.

The benefit concert was sponsored by the From the Top Alumni Leadership Grant program.
